OUR CULTURE

Ritchies is first and foremost a family business. Founded in the 1930s, today we are still privately owned and managed by two generations of the Ritchie family. Currently we employ over 1,300 staff across New Zealand. We have a flat management structure and operate an 'open-door' policy, designed to ensure staff are always welcome to drop in to discuss any issue they have. All staff at all levels of our company, be they a driver, supervisor or management are expected to ‘step up’ and deliver the best possible service to our customers.

We believe our staff feel proud to say they work for Ritchies and we in turn are proud of the standard of service and professionalism they deliver.

Our culture centres on these key beliefs:

  • Family - Our staff are our family, not a number
  • Balance - Our staff have lives outside work and work life balance is essential
  • Open - We make ourselves available with an open-door management style
  • Inclusive – We share information keep staff engaged and informed

Ritchies employees are paid extremely well for their efforts. We offer opportunities for staff to earn additional income through additional shifts, charter services and rail replacement work. We have flexible arrangements available that enable drivers to choose work that suits their lifestyle i.e. we have weekdays, weekends, school times, peak times, longer hours, multiple routes and single routes.

Age is no barrier, particularly if someone is just looking for some part-time work to supplement another income. For example, a school bus run in the morning and afternoon might just be your ticket.

Driver Training – An Opportunity for Career Progression
Driving a bus or coach is an exciting adventure! Our drivers get to meet new people every day and visit some of the most beautiful places in New Zealand. We operate our own dedicated driver training school with a team of NZQA qualified instructors. This allows us to take individuals, who we feel have the right potential for our business, through the licensing and training requirements necessary to become a Ritchies bus driver with a Passenger Endorsement.
And it doesn't stop there - training continues regularly throughout every Ritchies driver's career, even if they've been with us for many, many years.
If you are looking for a rewarding career that offer opportunities to constantly up-skill, in a very stable work environment, then please check the positions listed to the right or contact your nearest depot to see if there are any job opportunities available.
